I've been thinking about following Jesus versus following religion.
For me being a Christian is a way of life. I follow the Bible as a guide line for life of where to go.
I'm 62 years old and in my lifetime I have seen people who really follow after God. They love him with all their hearts. You these People pray and you know that they've been with Jesus.
You observe how they respond to a crisis. You observe how they treat others. You observe how they love their families. They speak often of their love for Jesus.
And it's my desire to follow Jesus and be like Jesus. It's my desire to be like these people who aren't perfect but want to be with Jesus and be like Jesus.
I think of Annie Yeo who is a missionary to Nigeria and is evangelist and many people under her Ministry became Christians and followers of Jesus.
I heard the passion of this lady who followed Jesus and wanted to see others follow him. I am observed the power of the Holy Spirit in this lady and passion for God and how she preached.
And then in my lifetime I've seen people who who have turned away from Jesus because of people behaving badly.
I've seen people turn away because they've been hurt by people..
This has happened because people have been too rigid in rules instead of promoting the love of Jesus. Do's and don'ts and shaming of people who didn't follow the rules. Present day Pharisees.
I found that being Christian is a way of life. It means to display the fruit of the Spirit. Kindness, loving others, peace ful living, honesty, integrity, patience,.
We can sing hymns, We can tell people about Jesus, we can attend services on Sunday, we can help others.
We may speak in tongues, lift our hands towards God but if we don't love others we don't love God.
I'm not talking about slipping and falling because none of us is perfect.
We are a work in progress.
I know that some of you have been hurt by the church and religion.
I'm sorry that you have been hurt by Religious hypocrisy.
I'm sorry people were not kind and you were treated badly.
Adoptees I am sorry you were not treated well.
It's hard to trust.
Please don't label every one as toxic.
Not everyone acts badly.
I can do without the religious people. But I cannot go away from the love that I found in Jesus. He never disappoints me. I love Jesus. Until next time
I love you but don't put down what I believe in your adoption posts. I respect you please respect me.
