What was your experience reaching out to biological family?

I am going to speak on a topic that I feel forme has been forbidden to speak about .

I remember several times to reaching out to family about my adoption.

Mixed results!

At first they answered my questions but it soon wore off.

One response of a family member expressed was fear.
Another family members response was How they had been told to be quiet.

My mother contacted my mom! Permission
Your parents were so proud of you.
A message I got through the grape vine my brother didn't want to contacted.

I was disappointed that I got the silent treatment.

I guess I was expecting things to be wàrm fuzzies!

I was naive. I didn't hear good to hear from you, at first but I got too personal.

Why are you digging up the truth ?attitude ?

Why are you wanting to connect with me when I made sure you had a family.

I felt their

Aloof attitude!

So cold, not inviting.

I had imagined that my biological parents would be glad to see me.

For me

It was a rude awakening.

It hurt to feel my birth family wanting to carry on.

This made meeting with family awkward.

I have talked with other adoptees about meeting with family and it has been a strain.

I have learned that you feel the Aloof attitude, the awkward moments

I have learned not to take my biological family too seriously.

You close the door to them knowing that the first phase of life is history. It is not something I can remember.

What has been your experience?
