Sunny side of life

My dad was positive and upbeat.

I don't remember a day when he was down.

I struggled with hard knocks. Disappointments.

My dad never mentioned much about his own struggles.

He encouraged me to choose my attitude. There were times when I was upset and dad would encourage me to get out and walk for a bit.

I don't remember him saying anything discouraging about How I was feeling.

He never preached at me.

He just sang bits and pieces of songs like Rocked in the cradle of the deep.

He did sing only parts of a song sang by A.R Carter who wrote the hymn in 1928.

In 1899 Ada Blenkhorn was inspired to write the Christian hymn by a phrase used by her nephew. Blenkhorn's nephew was disabled and always wanted his wheelchair pushed down "the sunny side" of the street. it.
